Prescriptions previously authorised by a doctor may be re-ordered monthly for up to six months following which further consultation will be required.Prescription requests are accepted over the telephone during the week Monday to Friday between 11.00am and 12pm and also between 5pm and 6pm.
The Surgery can also offer electronic prescribing which is iniciated by your regular pharmacy who can nominate themselves to receive your prescriptions electronically. This would enable you to order your prescription in the usual way but rather that needing to collect it from the Surgery in person it would be sent electronically to your pharmacy. If you have your medications delivered to your home by the pharmacy you would need to inform them when you have placed your order.
Prescription Services in East Lancashire are Changing
From 19th June 2017 pharmacies and dispensing companies will not be able to order medicines on behalf of patients. Patients will need to order their repeat prescription directly from their GP.This can be done between 11-12pm and 5-6pm daily.
These changes will ensure that GPs can monitor and discuss with patients what medicines they may or may not need. The change will improve patient safety as patients have more control and understanding of their medicines and what they are taking at any particular time.
By implementing the change NHS East Lancahire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) can reinvest the money saved, by reducing prescription waste, on healthcare services in East Lancashire.
Patients can further save time by ordering their repeat prescriptions online. The GP Online Service, provided by NHS England, also enables patients to book appointments and check their medical records at anytime, anywhere and is available at all East Lancashire practices. The online service empowers people to take greater control of their health and wellbeing, whilst providing more choice and convenience in how GP services can be accessed.
Please note that Controlled Drugs and some other preperations cannot be sent electronically.
